O.N.A.

My beautiful 10 yr old daughter was diagnosed with Optic Nerve Atrophy on July 20th, 2010. This disorder is extremely rare and without knowing the cause, there is no way of treating it. Now we wait. We wait for answers and pray for the disease to stop its progression. This is our story.

Psalm 123:2

Just 2 days ago we got the news: Optic Nerve Atrophy. My little girl does not fit the typical profile of someone with this disorder. She was not born prematurely, no nutritional deficits, she is not a diabetic, and she has no other health problems. She was born a beautiful baby girl, full term, 8 pounds 4 ounces. So, you ask why would this happen? We have no idea and neither does the specialist at Vanderbilt. It was such a shock when I saw she was unable to read most of the Ishihara color charts. So now we have been scheduled for more tests, in one month we go back for a Humphrey's visual field test. A month is a long time to wait.
